I just thought it was a little unfair that a team in an crappy division like the AL west could win its division, yet still get a sweet pick. I think if your a division winner, your pick should fall all the way down after all the non playoff teams. Anyone agree?

I seem to remember that we had this discussion several seasons back.
Some argued that the draft order should be strictly in reverse order of winning percentage, without considering division finishing place or post-season results. Others argued that all first-place teams should pick after all second-place teams, etc, without regard to winning percentage.
At the time, it was decided to just use the draft order given by BBM, which is in reverse winning percentage order EXCEPT that the World Series winner and loser are always last and next-to-last. By making it to the Series this year, the Expos dropped three spots in the order.
I'd favor a strict winning percentage rule, but I'm okay with the way it is now. It's easier for the commissioner to just use the BBM order.

It's also especially much easier considering the way the draft is run now compared to what it was with BBM 2k4. Back then, since everything was done manually, reverse-order made sense. But using it now, and then on top of it with the picks that get traded, it becomes a nightmare. I know, I sticked to it (reverse order) in 1970, our first season with the 2k8, and it was awful at the time of the draft.

Yeah, the draft process is already one of the most painful, if not thee most painful process that I have to go through each season.
Making it even more complicated where I am following a different order than the BBM game is just not something I think I would be willing to do.
