I'm sorry but that's very fast...too fast. I don't think TMBL come at 1st priority for everyone here and to prepare myself fine, I need more time.
The last minute trade talks, the draft to prepare, the lineup to set, strategies and the more important part my life to live, Xmas, shopping, I need more time to be set!
Why the hurry? Is it a race there?

Before the 1979 Season, I gave 7 days from April 1st file to Opening Day sim
Before the 1980 Season, I gave 6 days from April 1st file to Opening Day sim
This season, it will again be 6 days from April 1st to Opening Day sim
In addition, there were more days between the end of last season and the April 1st file being posted than normal.
So I am not seeing much difference at all than normal. One sim will be skipped in the regular season due to Christmas.

This is my 22nd season in TMBL, and I feel like we're under a rush as well. The feeling must come from somewhere.
I don't recall precisely how much time we used to let between the postings of the March 1 and April 1 files, but it was at least a few days. There is a difference for the owners between a few days and a single day.
Trades to prepare for the upcoming season, buydowns, contest prizes, finances, plus all the tests that people need to run to test out their players. Some of it can be done on April 1, but let's not forget this important aspect:
Signatures.
For instance, out of 6 players re-signing in 1981 on my team, well, all of them ask for much less money on March 1 than on April 1. That's 100% of the players I targeted as needing to re-sign. Now, that's one team, but we have 26 total teams.
It means that, for those that want to sign our players at March 1 prices, we have but a 24 hour window to do it?
Seasons around Christmas are always a little different. It's appreciated to have a week break. But sims on December 24 and 31? That's Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. How many owners are going to have time around those dates to check out their teams and to take action if necessary?
I know some people always thought TMBL was running too slowly. They know who they are. But what they probably ignore, is that some other owners thought that we were running too fast. So what we tried to do was work in-between those two poles. And now we're going even faster?
Watching this schedule and looking at the calendar next to me, well, I can't help but feel dizzy. What is the rush, really?

I don't recall precisely how much time we used to let between the postings of the March 1 and April 1 files, but it was at least a few days. There is a difference for the owners between a few days and a single day. Under my tenure, it has been 2 days both seasons. I reduced it to 1 day this time due to the longer time than normal at the Turnover file. Trades to prepare for the upcoming season, buydowns, contest prizes, finances, plus all the tests that people need to run to test out their players. Some of it can be done on April 1, but let's not forget this important aspect: Signatures. No, teams have had 11 days already and will have 12 days after tomorrow. Prices don't change from Turnover to March 1st. Some may disagree, but I would skip March 1st altogether if I had it my way. It is the most pointless sim stoppage in our league as nothing whatsoever changes in the file besides the date. Seasons around Christmas are always a little different. It's appreciated to have a week break. But sims on December 24 and 31? That's Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. How many owners are going to have time around those dates to check out their teams and to take action if necessary? The sims will likely take place on December 23rd and December 30th as that is when all changes to lineups will be due. The 1 week break is intended for those traveling on Christmas weekend. There should be ample time to make changes if you want them made at that time.

It is the most pointless sim stoppage in our league as nothing whatsoever changes in the file besides the date. False. Prices don't change, but team situations do. At turnover, we haven't had Free Agency yet, so most teams don't know exactly what their payroll and finances will be like after free agency is completed. Several teams added a lot of payroll in free agency, some other teams didn't. On a team like mine, re-signing some of my current players was put on hold after turnover because it would depend on how well or bad free agency went for me. Also, some teams were unable to fill all their needs with free agency and will need time to find the players they need someplace else. So, yeah, salary demands don't change between November and March 1. But that is no reason to hurry things, because if the demands don't change, the situations do. We don't all have the luxury of having a 30M payroll with unrestricted budget and piles of cash. On most teams, one high-priced free agent can and will make a ton of difference to that team's financial situation between FA and Spring Training. They can use the extra-time when they have some.

I am not sure I buy that, but I will take it under consideration for the future and may consider a mandatory 2 day time period (that is the max I would go).
This season, we are going ahead with the schedule as laid out.
Feel fortunate to stop at March 1st at all, because most other leagues (to my knowledge) skip it completely.

Prices don't change from Turnover to March 1st. Actually they do. Then they go back up again on April 1. I'm looking at your non-updated Nov 25th posting of the FA period file, and your Dec 6 posting of the March 1 file, and almost every player wants less than he did at turnover. The average difference is around 500k, some higher some lower. On April 1 there will be an increase of 500k+, up to over a couple of million, over the March 1 demands. Use Players -> Sortable Stats -> All Active Players. Select Expiring Contracts, then sort by Seeking from high to low. The guys near the top are the easiest to see the difference with. In the past, we used to allow owners to sign using either file when we didn't want to stay at March 1 too long.
