This was sent in a league email but I received it in my junk email, so it's possible some of you guys haven't received it.
It said the following:
This is an important issue; nevertheless, we are going on with the free agents as expected.
We are reviewing league finances. Set at +90%, they are way too high.
+90% imitated 2k4 projections for 1970. But 2 important things were overlooked: revenues are never anywhere near projections, and 1969 was an exception when it comes to team's revenues.
This was probably due to a few factors, among which the arrival of four new teams.
Check team's revenues in their History, and you will notice that everyone was way above what it should have been or what it had been for years prior to 1969. For instance, the Astros made more money in 1969 in a year in which they won 55 games, than they did in 1969 when they won 78.
Even though everyone made a lot of money in 1969, it wasn't going to be the same in 1970. The revenues were going to drop whatever we did. Had we kept using the 2k4, this is something that was going to happen, no matter what.
What needs to be done is to adjust the financial settings to emulate what 1970 would have been like in the 2k4. Run sims with the 2k4 if you want, you'll see what I mean.
Everyone should expect to do around 12M less in 1970 than they did in 1969. Everyone.
Therefore, keep this in mind as you make your offers on free agents. You are not going to repeat your 1969 financial numbers, no matter what. Not only in the 2k8, but in the 2k4 as well. This was going to happen as the game tried to adjust from the record revenues of 1969.
Rand and I will be running tests to correct this situation. Keep signing your free agents, but watch out for your finances. We will keep an eye open on them as well.
