I mean me.
It seems like I can't post anything here anymore without bitching about the time I spent doing it, so that means I need to stop doing it.
When Scott told Terry and I that he'd decided to quit as commissioner, he asked if one of us would take the job back. I immediately said no. Terry gave it some thought, and ended up deciding that there was no way he could go back to losing the chunks of his life and freedom that get donated to keeping a league going.
We discussed when we'd tell everyone the league was folding, and congratulated each other for keeping it alive all these years. At the last second I became stupidly sentimental. Of course I had to step in, TMBL couldn't die!
That ranks as one of the dumbest decisions I ever made. I already had BFFL going, I like what BFFL stands for. TMBL was an ancient league with a badly bloated file and some owners who either can't or won't play their teams. Very harsh, sorry about that, but also very true.
The 2k11 conversion didn't eliminate the bloat, because I wasn't trying to eliminate it when I set that file up.
That's beside the point anyway.
I'll stay in this job until the end of the season, then I'm gone. I won't even stay as an owner. I don't have a team of my own now, and won't claim one. Believe me, it takes a lot to say I'll do this season, because I want to just bail out right now.
I'm telling you at this time because you shouldn't have to put all the extra work into re-building teams that might not be around after this season is done. Conventional wisdom says tell people too soon, owners will go nuts. I say, let them go nuts. If it ends up being the last season, people might as well have a chance to enjoy it, right?
It's time for all of you to discuss if you're going to try finding someone else to do this, or just call it quits. I won't have any say over who, if anyone, you pick. Not my business anymore.
We do have several openings in BFFL, which I'm staying with, but I'm very picky about owners there. It's a very calm environment there and I intend to make sure it stays that way. I also won't keep owners who are only half awake, those who always, always, lose, so if TMBL does fold and you want a BFFL team, be prepared to play it hard and keep the complaints off the boards. I wonder if anyone has read this far down? Probably a few.
Please Do Not start pestering Terry to come back as commissioner.
Terry has made it 100% clear to me that he has no intention of doing this job again, and asked me to tell everyone to not PM or email him to try convincing him to do it. He won't, so don't make him crazy.
