are we stilled allowed to sign FA?
if so, if you sign them for 1 year, I'm guessing that means their contract expires at the end of this season?

Free agency will close after tomorrow's sim, because that's when teams start doing their end of season re-sign and release stuff.
Side note: Terry will be sending out playoff date information tomorrow after he does the sim. I leave those dates to him because he has to run the play by play on them.

I know you guys have a place to go and watch the sim happening where Terry gives the Play-by-play but I'm not sure where/how its done (since I havent been in the playoffs before ) Are we as managers allowed to make the moves ourselves in game, or is it still strictly the computer? how/where does the netmeeting take place?

yah i was curious too. i didn't ask b/c i was years away from the playoffs (and still may be), but in another league we could do all sorts of stuff like: change pitchers, pinch hit, pinch run, decide to go for an extra base/tag up, sac bunt, steal, defense replacements etc .. is that the same here? i wonder b/c in that other league the playoffs would seem to last a lot longer than tmbl's playoffs take. but they didn't know what the word 'organized' even meant

Unfortunately, we don't do an official "Netmeeting" using the Netmeeting program anymore, since Netmeeting doesn't exist on Windows7, which is what I have now. However, I still run the games in Play by Play mode and allow attendance if some are interested. But they can't see the games like they used to when we did this through Netmeeting. I inform them as best I can of what's going on, scores, innings, etc. If an owner whose team is in the playoffs attends this event, he is allowed to make changes to his lineup, pitching staff, strategies, etc., between games. No decision can be made during a game, it's always been like that. The game gets played in "General Manager Mode", which is a one-pitch mode and the game plays itself automatically without human intervention (not even mine). To attend, owners can join me on MSN, a program easy to find, install and use. If you wish to have information on how to find me on MSN, simply PM me and I'll direct you to the proper address.

It would have been fun, but to be fair both owners would need to be there, and that almost never happens - trust me, I've seen every playoffs since 1959. The old Netmeeting program which allowed owners to see the game also made that impossible, since both owners would see what actions the other would order, which is kind of dumb to begin with. But a team can set its strategies, lineup, pitching staff not only prior to the playoffs, but if the owner attends, he can make adjustements between games.

My greatest move was a double steal in the 9th that will never be forgot! i will say, i love playing the mogul league but nothing even compared to a good pbp sim. we even started doing exhibition games during the season to let the bad teams give it a shot every now an then. the only downside is the length of time to complete all the games. as for no netmeeting, i can actually get us something similar if people wanted to watch again for free .. although just watching mogul play the game it doesn't seem like it would be that interesting anyways (probably just really frustrating lol)

It used to be easy to work Netmeeting when we all had Windows XP. Watching may not be as fun as managing, but it gives us the advantage of completing a Round of playoffs in a couple of hours. And watching is certainly better than nothing at all, or close to it.

Jacob, were you thinking of the same program or a different one? Netmeeting had gotten really bad for us. The MS servers were so slow that we'd be looking at a frozen screen in the 3rd inning while BBM was playing the 8th. Only Terry (or Scott back then) ever saw the whole game, we'd get occasional partial screen updates that often looked like surrealist paintings.

That sounds promising. Jacob, were you thinking of the same program or a different one? The company I work for does a lot of Oracle software configuration and sales. There is a desktop sharing suite called iMeeting or RTC (real time conferencing). I can get the commish an account and you can setup a conference. The GMs would then go to a website, give it a handle/name, and then you could join the commish's conference (desktop). I works pretty similarly to other desktop sharing apps. Let me know if you would like to check it out, and I'll give you the site and login credentials to create a test conference. That free software mentioned by the Jays seems easy enough too. Just let me know.

We can certainly run a test before the postseason, and if it works properly, I wouldn't mind doing the current postseason with it.
