Everyone please read what Rand just said:Talent levels have gotten much too high. I'm going to have to try working that out in future rookie drafts or it's going to get a lot worse. Tentatively, it's possible that no player who debuted on a team that doesn't exist in TMBL will find his way into the draft.
Think about this for a minute. Now the drafts are going to have less talent. That is going to totally throw off the balance of the league, meaning that less good players are going to be entering the league over the next 5 years than did the past 5.
Less, but not that much less. I'll be looking to prevent having 20 teams chose the top 3 players from a player pool used by 24 teams, which would make average team talent get even worse than it is now. The best of the remaining players would still be in the same range as the last draft, and the longshot picks (around pick number 30 and above) would be less likely to develop well than they were a few drafts back.

rather than make the mistake i'm glad it was temporarily avoided, and hope that we can reconfigure it and execute it in a proper fashion.
There were no mistakes in what I posted, just some owners who don't want to lose any players, some owners who don't have a clue about what we're working with, and some that fit into both categories.
My plan might not have been 100% polished and ready to implement exactly as presented, but it was a solid and impartial foundation based on my knowledge of what we are, what we have to work with, and what it takes to create a team.
This is not VMBL, CML, 21C, or any other league. This is not pro baseball. This is a league that's been feeding on the best available players from the rookie debut pools. It's a league that has a fraction over 40 players per team on average, and every free agent even remotely worth anything is signed by someone. I know this league inside and out. So do a tiny handful of other owners. Sorry, but you're really not in any position to tell me I made a mistake.

This is absolutely ridiculous. {omit} The talent in the league NEEDS to be dispersed. Teams are far too stacked for the health of the league. Very true.

I don't know why we had this vote so early. If expansion teams are going to get in on the drafts following the 67 and 68 seasons, a final decision had to be made before the middle of 1967. Right now we have a small but significant number of owners who don't want it, but there's a chance, no matter how small, that people will change their minds in time to do it as originally scheduled. If we'd waited another season and gotten the same results, even that small chance would be gone and, at best, we'd have to delay until 1970.
